Most Worth it Things to do in Los Cabos
Sitting at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos beckons travelers with its pristine beaches, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture. Whether you're seeking outdoor adventures, delectable dining experiences, or simply unwinding by the sea, Los Cabos offers something for everyone. Based on some of my experiences, I’ve curated a list of activities across various categories to maximize your visit.
Los Cabos Dining
Trópico Cocina de Costa
Located in the plaza with Chula Vegan Café, on the road from the Hotel Zone to downtown San Jose, Trópico offers fresh flavors with gourmet flare. The fried fish and shrimp tacos have a perfectly light breading and are accompanied by two delicious salsas. I also love the fish ceviche and BBQ chicken taco. The price point is excellent for the quality and flavor of the food.
Nicksan: Indulge in the art of Japanese-Mexican fusion cuisine, where sushi and sashimi meet bold Mexican flavors. Every menu item is a good choice and the ambiance and service are top notch.
Kitchen Table San Jose del Cabo: Experience farm-to-table dining at its finest, where fresh ingredients and creative culinary techniques come together to create one-of-a-kind dishes. Located in the heart of San Jose del Cabo, this outdoor eatery is well designed and leaves you wanting to try one of everything. The warm sourdough bread with smoked butter and sea salt is easily the best I’ve ever had. With food items being sourced locally, the menu is seasonal and changes occasionally to ensure only the freshest ingredients make their way into the kitchen and onto your plate.
Look through my handbook for more of my favorite dining options in San Jose, San Lucas, Todos Santos, and La Paz like Barrio del Tango, Taqueria México, Chubby Noodle, Corleone Pizza, Funky Geisha, Tacos Gardenias, and more.

Cabo Pulmo Travel: Exploring Baja’s national marine park gets you face to face with nature’s aquatic residents. On our snorkel tour we swam amongst a massive school of Jack Crevalle, enjoyed the busy coral reefs, spied on sharks, and swam with turtles. Los Cabos Art
San Jose Art Garden and Art Walk: Immerse yourself in the vibrant art scene of San Jose del Cabo with a visit to the San Jose Art Garden and Art Walk. Discover the creative energy of the San Jose Art District, home to a diverse array of artists, galleries, studios, and public art installations. From traditional Mexican crafts to contemporary masterpieces, the Art District offers a captivating glimpse into the region's artistic heritage. On Thursday nights you can enjoy a wide range of art pieces and eat tacos as local artists display their work in the main plaza.
Although the San Jose Art Walk is bigger, Cabo San Lucas also has an art night they host on Friday’s. Now you can do both!

Best Beaches in Los Cabos (and the world)
Chileno Beach: Bask in the beauty of Chileno Beach, a pristine stretch of coastline renowned for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life. Whether you're snorkeling amidst colorful coral reefs or simply lounging on the sand, Chileno Beach offers the perfect setting for relaxation and recreation. While there are many other beautiful beaches, Chileno Beach is on the top of my list because it is swimmable and they have great parking and a walkway to make carrying all your beach gear easy so you still have energy to snorkel and enjoy the warm water. This beach is located halfway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
Balandra Beach (La Paz): Balandra has been ranked in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world! Well worth the two hour drive up to La Paz, this beach is spectacular. The water level varies from ankle deep to chest deep as you wade through the crystal clear waters of the bay. The beach has about 10 permanent palapas set up past the parking lot that make for a great place to relax and soak in the beauty. Due to its popularity, the beach does limit access to two groups a day, the first allowed entrance at 8am and the second at 1pm. If you want to ensure you get in, I advise arriving early and joining the line of cars.
To learn more about this process and other great swimmable beaches like Playa Santa Maria, Medano Beach, and Palmilla Beach, check out the “Beaches” section of my handbook.
Fishing in Los Cabos
Surf Fishing
I’ve always loved surf fishing, but surf fishing here in Baja is on another level. A ton of awesome fish species are regularly caught from Los Cabos beaches including Roosterfish, Dorado, Sierra, Jack Crevalle, Yellowtail, Snapper, Pompano, and more. Check out my surf fishing page to see what I’ve been catching from the shore.
Jansen Inshore Tackle: Gear up for a day of fishing adventures with Jansen Inshore Tackle, offering a wide range of high-quality fishing gear and equipment. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a novice, Jansen has everything you need to catch a variety of Baja species.
Redrum Sportfishing Los Cabos: Set sail with Redrum Sportfishing Los Cabos and discover why the waters off the coast of Baja California are renowned as some of the best fishing grounds in the world. Getting offshore gives you the opportunity to catch Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and many other prize gamefish. While I have yet to cast a line off-shore, I’m in multiple fishing groups and always hear good things about this boat, captain, and crew.
Golfing in Los Cabos
The Views!
If you’re a golfer, you’ll love to hear Los Cabos is home to 18 great golf courses, some of which have hosted PGA events. While a handful of these courses are private and can only be played if you’re with a member, there are many which are public and provide incredible ocean and desert views.
My go-to course is Vidanta in San Jose del Cabo. Although it’s only 9 holes, greens fees are $35-$55, you get unlimited drinks, a taco lunch, and golf cart for $40, and it’s a well designed and maintained course. It also happens to be right behind my apartment, so with the value and proximity, it makes for a great option. Besides, playing the same 9 holes twice gives you a chance to redeem yourself on that nasty slice from the first round.
Some of the top courses visitors come to play are Quivira, Puerto Los Cabos, Solmar, and Cabo del Sol. Teeing off into the blue sky and putting into the horizon of turquoise water will make for a round to remember. If you don’t have it, download the GolfNow app to get local deals on tee times.
Los Cabos is the Ultimate Destination
